Homeschool Christmas School Fun + Ideas

Christmas School adds fun and connection for December homeschoolers

I didn’t know Christmas school was a ‘thing’ the first couple of years I’d been homeschooling.  Now I see the inspiration everywhere! With all the choices, how do you decide which ones to do?

The wonderful thing about these selections is that you can do a new one every year to keep it fun and interesting.

We always read Christmas picture books and many of these units include books too. Some are more focused on advent because they are Christian, others focus on the global traditions of many different holidays celebrated at this time of the year.

Christmas school ideas

The first year I tried Christmas school I kept it simple

We read ‘How Winston Delivered Christmas’ and made many of the crafts and recipes. It was nice and simple!

The following year I did a mini Christmas Tree Growth Rate activity

Christmas Farm Book Fun

We were already doing the Forest and Tree Study and I added the Christmas farm book and we created some math and science to add in some fun learning. We used the back page info on growth per year and used the Christmas tree sales in the book to ‘chart’ it over the years.

I also use Christmas picture books as Charlotte Mason inspired copywork or dictation.

I’m currently researching a new Christmas unit to do this December so I figured why not share the list with you?

I will likely be doing the Read Aloud Revival’s Christmas School this year.

Here is a big list of Christmas School options

I will keep adding to it as new curriculum comes out or if you share your favs!

I’ll end on a funny December homeschooling meme!

This one makes me chuckle every year because of the intentions vs reality. Remember the main goal of the season is to slow down in addition to creating a fun Christmas homeschool.

Do you have a favorite Christmas homeschool unit?
