Sneak peak at some of our grade 6 curriculum for next year *gasp my 7th year homeschooling!!* . Are we going classical? Not entirely, we always add in brave writer arrows/darts and don’t just read the classics. We’re loving our modern beast academy for math. We’re quite eclectic but we’ve loved fix it grammar so much this year that I decided to venture more into iew & memoria press from @classicaleducationbooks Canada . I’m debating even adding in Latin next year! Brings me back to university biology! We keep homeschooling very simple in the spring. Lots of outside play, getting our garden set up, morning basket followed by copywork from a book we read (today it’s ‘We are the Gardeners’) Our grade 3 will copy one sentence, our grade 5 the whole passage. Then they’ll draw something from one of the pages. Simple. Beautiful. I wish I could say we’re doing a lot of book homeschooling these days but for April & May they do far less academics and lots of learning and play outside. We’re busy prepping & planting (follow us @modern_homesteadlife )
We try to keep up with math & language arts, but the extra subjects become all things gardening & homesteading. Today we had a little April snow. Luckily it will melt in a day and go back to green grass & spring. We have 10+ robins hanging out in our backyard reminding us it’s still spring 🌷
